PERRY PARK, Ky. – The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team placed 12th in the first NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Invitational of the spring, The invitational is the second of three regional tournaments during the year, one in the fall and two in the spring.
The Screaming Eagles shot a 36-hole 597 (305-292), which was 23 strokes off the pace set by Grand Valley State University. GVSU had a 574 (285-289) to win the tournament by five strokes.
USI was led individually by freshman
Drew Dunkerly (Linton, Indiana) and sophomore
Ted O'Brien (Santa Claus, Indiana), who tied for 33rd. Both Eagles shot an identical two-round score of 149 (77-72). Sophomore
Blake Hilliard (Olney, Illinois) was one stroke back of Dunkerly and O'Brien with a 150 (76-74).
The Eagles continue action this spring in the GLVC Tournament April 10-11 at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.
