COVINGTON, Ky. The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team shot a two-day 584 (293-291) but still finished fifth at the LaRosa's Collegiate Cup Saturday and Sunday. The tournament was hosted by Northern Kentucky University.
USI finished 24 strokes off the pace set by NKU, which shot a two-day 562 (278-284).
USI was led by senior
Matt Fonner (Champaign, Illinois), who placed eighth with a two-round 143 (71-72). Sophomore
Ted O'Brien (Santa Clause, Indiana), who played as an individual, tied Fonner for eighth with a two-round 143 (70-73).
Sophomore
Nick Frazer (Evansville, Indiana) trailed Fonner and O'Brien by a stroke with 144 (73-71)to tie for 12th.
The Screaming Eagles return to action April 1-2 in the first Great Lakes Spring Tournament of 2006. The tournament will be hosted by NKU at the Perry Park Country Club in Perry Park, Kentucky.
