EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team completed a home-and-home sweep of Oakland City University Thursday afternoon, 9-6, in Oakland City, Indiana. USI starts the 2006 campaign with a 2-0 record, while OCU falls to 0-3.

The Screaming Eagles broke the game open in the second inning when senior catcher Chris Turner (Chesterton, Indiana) hit a grand slam to give USI a 6-2 lead after two innings.

USI would go on to score a tally in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to take a 9-2 lead. OCU would rebound with three runs in the sixth and two more in the ninth to make the final score 9-6.

In addition to Turner's blast, sophomore second baseman Darin Mastroianni (Huntersville, North Carolina) had three hits and three runs scored, while freshman designated hitter Kirby Dunagan (Greensburg, Indiana) also had three hits in the game.

On the mound, sophomore Jeremy Kehrt (Plainfield, Indiana) picked up the win for the Eagles. Kehrt (1-0) went five plus innings, allowing four runs and striking out seven OCU batters.
