EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 3rd-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team lost in the final seconds Thursday evening to Drury University, 83-82, at the Physical Activities Center. USI falls to 22-3 overall and 11-3 GLVC, while Drury raises its record to 16-6 overall, 11-4 GLVC.

Drury's junior junior guard Brandon Kimbrough hit an eight-foot jumper in the lane with 0.6 seconds left to give the Panthers the victory. USI senior guard David Bryant (Louisville, Kentucky) had tied the score twice in the final minutes and given the Screaming Eagles an 82-81 lead with seven seconds to play before Kimbrough's game winning shot.

The Eagles, who led 42-40 at halftime, trailed almost all of the second half and spotted the Panthers a nine point lead on twice. USI, down 71-60 with 7:51 left, outscored Drury 16-7 after tie the score 77-77 with 1:52 to play in regulation to get back into the contest.

USI controlled the boards, 26-20, and out shot Drury, 56.5 percent (26-46) to 56.0 percent (28-50). The Panthers hit three more three-point field goals than USI in the win.

Individually, USI senior forward Chris Thompson (Starke, Florida) led the Eagles with his 13th double-double of the year. Thompson tied for the team lead with 20 points, while grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.

USI junior guard Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana) tied Thompson in the scoring column with 20 points, while Bryant finished the game with 11 points. Seven of Bryant's points came in the final two minutes.

The Eagles will have homecoming on Saturday when it hosts Rockhurst University at 3:15 p.m. Rockhurst, who was idle Thursday night, fell 9-13 overall and 5-9 GLVC after dropping a 63-58 decision to Drury on Tuesday night.
