USI settles for tie at UMR

ROLLA, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team had a pair of leads, but had to settle for a 2-2 double-overtime tie with the University of Missouri-Rolla Sunday in Rolla, Missouri. USI's record goes 2-10-2 overall and 1-8-2 GLVC, while UMR goes to 7-7-1, 5-4-1 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles got on the board first on a goal by junior midfielder Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana) at 10:31. The goal was the second of the year for Stoll, who stole the ball in the UMR box and put the ball into the back of the net.

After the Miners tied the match, 1-1, at 34:59 of the first half, the Eagles retook the lead, 2-1, at the 46:27 mark of the second half. USI junior defender Matt Vossemer (Frankfort, Kentucky) scored his first goal of the year and his first as a collegiate from 20 yards out.

The Miners sent the match into overtime tied, 2-2, on a goal at 59:57. Neither team was able to score in overtime with three shots by USI and four by UMR.

The Eagles begin their final homestand of the year October 13 when USI hosts Northern Kentucky University at 5 p.m. USI concludes the season a home with Senior Day on October 15 against Bellarmine University and a non-conference match October 18 against Harris Stowe State University.
