USI men's soccer hopes to continue offensive surge

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team hopes to continue its offensive surge when it goes on the road in the GLVC this week. The Screaming Eagles travel to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday for a 5 p.m. contest and complete the trip at the University of Missouri-Rolla Sunday at noon.

USI (2-9-1, 1-7-1 GLVC) is coming off a victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College in which it increased its goal production by nearly 70 percent for the season. The 4-0 win also broke the Eagles 10-game winless streak.

UMSL (6-4-2, 3-4-2 GLVC) has gotten itself back on track in the last four matches. The Rivermen have gone 2-1-2 since suffering through a stretch where they lost three of four.

UMR (6-7-0, 4-4-0 GLVC) has won two of its last three matches since beginning this week's action with a 3-1 victory over UMSL. The Miners host KWC Friday night before welcoming the Eagles.

USI trails UMSL in the all-time series, 13-3-1, but has a 9-7-1 advantage over UMR. Last season the Eagles lost to both teams, 3-1.
