EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Offense returned to the University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team in spectacular fashion as the Screaming Eagles shutout Kentucky Wesleyan College, 4-0, Tuesday evening at Strassweg Field. USI raises its record to 2-9-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the GLVC, while KWC falls to 1-13-1, 1-8-0 GLVC.

The victory gets the Eagles into the win column the GLVC standings and breaks a 10-game winless streak.

The USI offensive explosion started in the first half when junior midfielder Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana) scored his first goal of the year at 30:16. Stoll was assisted on the goal by senior midfielder Brett Palazzolo (St. Louis, Missouri), who started the scoring play on a corner kick, and freshman midfielder Paul Hutchens (Libertyville, Illinois), who received the corner and passed the ball back to Stoll for the tally. The assist was Hutchen's first as a collegiate.

The score remained 1-0 until after halftime when the Eagles scored twice within 10 minutes.

USI's second goal of the game came off the foot of freshman defender Carl Carr (United Kingdom). Carr scored his first collegiate goal off passes from Palazzolo and junior forward Michael Dugger (Hanson, Kentucky).

The Eagles extended the lead to 3-0 at 59:16 when senior forward Eric Brewer (Granite City, Illinois) scored his first goal as an Eagle. Brewer scored on a cross from Carr, who picked up his first collegiate assist.

USI junior midfielder Jason Blose (Longmont, Colorado) finished the scoring for the Eagles with a tally at 84:43. Blose deposited the fourth Eagle goal into the back of the net off the rebound of a shot by junior midfielder Quintin Myers (Washington, Indiana). The 4-0 score would be the final.

Between the posts, USI sophomore goalkeeper Jake Bryan (Portage, Indiana) made five saves and posted his second shutout of the year. Bryan's shutout was highlighted by his save of a KWC penalty kick with just over nine minutes left to play.

The Eagles return to the road this weekend in the GLVC, playing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday at 5 p.m. USI concludes the short two-match road trip Sunday at the University of Missouri-Rolla for a noon contest.
