EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Quincy University scored on an indirect goal kick in the 53rd minute of the game to defeat the University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team, 1-0, Sunday at Strassweg Field.
The Screaming Eagles (1-9-1, 0-7-1 GLVC) had 12 shots, eight of which came in the second half, but could get just one shot on goal.
USI thought it tied the contest when senior midfielder
Eric Brewer's (Granite City, Illinois) sliding shot got tangled into the net late in the match. However, the shot was just left of the goal as the Eagles remained scoreless.
Quincy (4-7-1, 4-5-1 GLVC) also had a would-be goal called back in the first half due to an offside call. The Hawks ended the match with 10 shots, five of which where on goal.
USI sophomore goalkeeper
Jake Bryan (Portage, Indiana) was credited with the loss despite recording four saves.
The Eagles return to action Tuesday when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College at 7 p.m.
