EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team started its homestand with a 1-0 shutout of the University of Indianapolis Friday evening at Strassweg Field. USI raises its overall record over the .500 mark to 6-5-0 overall and its GLVC record to 5-3-0.
The 5-3-0 conference record marks the first time since the 2000 season that the Screaming Eagles are two matches over the .500 mark in the GLVC during the year.
Indianapolis falls behind the Eagles in the standings and drops to 5-4-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the GLVC.

Julie Collins (Merrillville, Indiana) scored the game-winning goal for the Eagles at the 27:15 mark of the first half off a pass from junior midfielder
Rebecca Cripe (Argos, Indiana). Collins' team-best eighth goal of the year also was her fourth game-winner of the year.
Between the posts, sophomore goalkeeper
Meagan Homolla (Portage, Indiana) posted her second shutout of the year, making five saves in the match. The shutout was USI's fourth as a team in 2005.
The Eagles resume action Sunday when the finish the homestand by hosting Saint Joseph's College at Strassweg Field. The match is scheduled for a noon kick-off. SJC raised its record to 4-6-1 overall, 3-3-0 GLVC, with a 2-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday afternoon in Owensboro, Kentucky.
