SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team finished ninth at the Great Lakes Regional Tournament, shooting a two-round 599 (302-297) at Hawk's Head Golf Course in South Haven, Michigan. The regional tournament is the first three regional tournaments in 2005-06.
The Screaming Eagles, who were tied for 11th after the first round, rose two places in the final round to finish ninth. USI finished 18 strokes off the pace by tournament winner Ferris State University, which posted a 36-hole 581 (293-288).
USI was led by sophomore Rafe Walker (Henderson, Kentucky), who tied for 21st with a two-round 148 (72-76). He was followed by sophomore Blake Hilliard (Olney, Illinois), who tied for 26th with a 149 (77-72).
The Eagles will finish the fall season in the North Alabama Invitational October 10-11. The tournament will be held at the Cypress Lake Country Club in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
