EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team concluded its homestand 0-2 after losing to the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 3-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 GLVC, while UMSL goes to 3-1-1 overall, 3-1-0 GLVC.
The Rivermen drew first blood just before intermission on an unassisted goal by midfielder Brett Kaatman, scoring with a 1:06 to play in the half.
The Eagles fought back early in the second half to tie the game 1-1, when junior midfielder
Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana) scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the half. The goals was a team-best fourth of the year for Stoll.
Earlier in the period, Stoll missed a penalty kick just 25 seconds into the second half.
The Rivermen offense got back in gear when forward Jeff Menke scored the game winner at the 61:40 mark and forward Colin Huber sealed the victory with a goal at 65:34.
USI resumes GLVC action on the road next weekend when it travels to Quincy University on September 23 and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on September 25.
