EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team did not have shots go its way Friday evening, falling to the University of Missouri-Rolla, 3-1, at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 3-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 GLVC, while UMR goes to 4-2-1 overall, 2-0-1 GLVC.
After falling behind, 1-0, in the first half, the Screaming Eagles got on the scoreboard at the 62:31 mark of the second half. USI junior back
Brian Shepherd (St. Louis, Missouri) scored his second goal of the year to tie the game 1-1. The unassisted goal was Shepherd's second of the year.
UMR bounced back eight minutes later when Miner midfielder Phil Schloss scored the game-winner at the 70:41 mark and sealed the match on a goal by forward Dan Gravlin at 72:55.
The Eagles had their chances in the second half, but the ball would not bounce their way. USI junior midfielder

Sulieman Khan (New Albany, Indiana) hit the right post in the second half, while sophomore midfielder
Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana) arced a shot just above the crossbar late in the match.
USI will try to get back on track Sunday when it hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a 2:30 p.m. match at Strassweg Field. UMSL raised its record to 2-1-1 overall, 2-1-0 GLVC, after defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3-0, Friday afternoon in Owensboro, Kentucky.
