ALLENDALE, Mich. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team lost to Grand Valley State University, 5-0, Sunday afternoon in the Grand Valley State Tournament in Allendale, Michigan. USI falls to 1-1-0 overall, while GVSU, which was an NCAA Division II Tournament team a year ago, raises to 2-0-0.
The Lakers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and put three more into the back of the net in the second half for the 5-0 final. GVSU out shot the Screaming Eagles 22-11. Of USI's 11 shots, seven were on goal, but none could find the back of the net.
The Eagles will open the 2005 home schedule at Strassweg Field by hosting Ashland University for a men's and women's doubleheader. The women's match will kick-off at noon.
