EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team stumbled in its home opener, 3-0, to Ashland University Saturday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 1-2-0 overall, while Ashland goes to 2-1-0.
Ashland jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first half and increased the lead to 2-0 by the intermission. The Ashland Eagles sealed the victory with their third goal of the game with just over 14 minutes to play in the second half.
USI resumes action September 9 when it opens the GLVC schedule on the road at Bellarmine University. The women's game will kick-off the GLVC men's and women's doubleheader in Louisville, Kentucky, at 1 p.m. (CDT).
