Adam Summers (Dyer, Indiana) posted back-to-back complete games as the Screaming Eagles swept a doubleheader from Lewis University Saturday afternoon at the USI Baseball Field. USI won the opener, 4-1, and the nightcap, 4-3.
The victories raise the Eagles' record to 19-19 overall, 11-11 in the GLVC, and 8-4 during the homestand. The Flyers fall to 6-30 overall, 4-20 GLVC.
Fadde (3-3) scattered sevens hits and struck out five in throwing his third complete game of the year. The Flyers pushed across their only run of the game in the fourth when they were able to touch Fadde for three of their seven hits.
Offensively, USI scored a single tally in each of the first three innings and sealed the victory with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman leftfielderÂ
Justin Wolfe (Brookville, Indiana), senior designated hitterÂ
Andy Rock (West Chester, Ohio), and senior shortstopÂ
Corey Goers (LaPorte, Indiana) had two hits each to lead the way. Junior first basemanÂ
Derik Hutton (Versailles, Indiana) drove in a pair of runs with a single in the third and a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Summers (6-1) posted his team-high sixth victory and fourth complete game of the year in the nightcap victory. He also scattered seven hits in giving up three unearned runs, while striking out four Lewis hitters.
The Eagles gave Summers an early 2-0 lead with a pair of tallies in the first frame on back-to-back doubles by sophomore rightfielderÂ
Hunter Slade (Newburgh, Indiana) and Hutton. The lead would last until the fourth when Lewis tied the game 2-2.
USI responded two innings later with the game winning runs in the sixth. Goers drove in Hutton with the game-winner on a one-out triple to left center and scored USI's fourth run on a single by freshman third basemanÂ

The Eagles and the Flyers resume the four-game series Sunday with a noon doubleheader. The doubleheader concludes USI's 14-game homestand.
