EVANSVILLE, Ind.– The University of Southern Indiana baseball team suffered a 10-0 defeat at the hands of 25th-ranked Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia, Tuesday afternoon. USI falls to 3-3 overall and 2-2 on the spring road trip, while Augusta State improves to 15-7-1.
The Jaguars scored six runs in the first four innings, knocking out USI starterÂ
Andy Rumpler (Hamilton, Ohio). Rumpler (0-1) went 3.2 innings and allowed six earned runs in the loss. ASU went on to score twice more in the sixth and the eighth for the 10-0 win.
ASU starter and winning pitcher Bryan Sastre scattered six USI hits over the nine innings.
USI and ASU conclude the two-game series Wednesday. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CT). The Eagles conclude the spring road trip with a single game Anderson College Thursday before starting a three-game series at Lincoln Memorial University Friday and Saturday.
Upon returning to Evansville, USI will play across town at the University of Evansville in the "Battle of the Braun" March 15.
