FLORENCE, Ala.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team dropped a pair of games to the University of North Alabama Saturday. The Screaming Eagles lost the first game, 3-2, and the second game, 7-2, as they fell to 0-6 on the season.
Junior pitcher
Lindsey McNaughton (Carmel, Indiana) was charged with the loss in game one after giving up three runs off seven hits in five innings of work. McNaughton (0-3) helped herself from the plate as she went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs in the loss.
In game two, the Eagles fell behind 5-0 after three innings. Junior hurler
Missy Grover (Mishawaka, Indiana) gave up five runs off five hits, including a pair of homeruns in the third inning, before giving way to sophomore
Nikki Nichols (Henderson, Kentucky) prior to the fourth inning. Grover (0-3) was charged with the loss.
Offensively, McNaughton and sophomore utility player
Audra Lindenschmidt (Evansville, Indiana) each drove in a run, while senior centerfielder
Sunny Oelling (Valparaiso, Indiana) went 3-for-4 in the second game. Oelling also was 1-for-3 from the plate in the first game.
USI will play No. 3-ranked Shippensburg University and Kutztown Monday at the Division II Rebel Spring Games in Osceola, Florida.
