Box Score Game One: USI 4, OCU 3
Box Score Game Two: USI 6, OCU 2

EVANSVILLE, Ind.
 – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Oakland City University by taking two, 4-3 and 6-2, Sunday afternoon at the USI Baseball Field. USI will start GLVC action Wednesday with a .500 record at 8-8, while OCU falls to 7-7.

In the first game, USI had to come-from-behind for the third consecutive game to earn the victory. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth, the Screaming Eagles scored four times, highlighted by a two-run double by senior shortstop Corey Goers (LaPorte, Indiana) to tie the game.

Goers scored the go-ahead run two batters later when freshman leftfielder Justin Wolfe (Brookville, Indiana) doubled down the leftfield line. Wolfe, who had advanced to third on a wild pitch, scored USI's fourth run of the inning on an infield-single by senior centerfielder Noah Wetzel (New Salisbury, Indiana).

USI sophomore right-hander Adam Vetters (Crown Point, Indiana) out-dueled OCU's left-hander Andrew Elpers for the victory in game one. Vetters (2-1) went 6 1/3 innings and allowed three runs and nine hits while striking out seven.

USI senior right-hander Andy Rumpler (Hamilton, Ohio) and junior left-hander Nathan Arnold (Evansville, Indiana) finished the game for Vetters, After Rumpler retired his only batter, Arnold picked up his second save in as many days by striking out OCU first baseman Jeremy Farmer.

In the nightcap, USI senior right-handed pitcher/designated hitter Matt Keener (Newburgh, Indiana) picked up his first victory of the year. Keener (1-1) went six innings and allowed two runs and five hits, while striking out four. Freshman right-hander Jeremy Kerht (Plainfield, Indiana) finished the game for Keener in the seventh, setting down all three batters.

Keener also helped himself at the plate, going two-for-four with a runs scored and three RBIs.

The Eagles open GLVC action Wednesday on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan College. The first pitch is scheduled for noon. USI begins the GLVC home schedule next weekend, March 26-27, by hosting the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for a four-game series.
