EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team returned to friendly surroundings of the Physical Activities Center Thursday evening to get back on track with an 83-61 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. USI, ranked 10th nationally, raises its record to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the GLVC, while UW-Parkside falls to 5-3, 2-1 GLVC.
The victory extends USI's home winning streak to 27 games and marked the first victory by the Screaming Eagles over a team from the GLVC's new East Division.
The Eagles trailed by five early, 16-11, before taking control of the game with a 32-9 run in the final 13 minutes of the half. USI led by as many as 19 points in the first stanza and led at the intermission, 43-25.
In the second half, UW-Parkside cut into the USI lead and knocked the margin down to nine points at 49-40 with 12:51 to play and 51-42 with 12:09 left. After that run, it was all USI the rest of the way.
The Eagles would re-extend their margin to as many as 22 points, including the 83-61 final.
USI senior guardÂ
David Bryant (Louisville, Kentucky) led the Eagles in scoring with a season-high 18 points, shooting eight-of-10 from the field. Bryant was followed in the scoring column by junior guardÂ
Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana), who had 17 points after hitting five of his six field goals from long range.

Chris Thompson (Starke, Indiana) and junior forwardÂ
Geoff Van Winkle (Ferdinand, Indiana) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 15 points and 10 points, respectively. Thompson also led the Eagles on the boards with nine.
The Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon when the Flyers of Lewis University come to the PAC for a 3:15 p.m. contest. Lewis defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College, 62-56, at the Sportscenter Thursday evening to raise its record to 5-2, 2-1 GLVC.
