EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team blew by Bryan College, 88-53, Saturday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI, which has won 29 straight at the PAC, raised its record to 10-1 overall, while Bryan falls to 6-6.
The Screaming Eagles soared from the opening tip-off, jumping out to a 15-0 lead before the Lions could get on the board. Bryan would cut the lead to 11 points, 15-4, but that would be as close as it would get.
USI would lead by as many as 27 points in the first half, including the 51-24 lead at the intermission. The Eagles would build its biggest lead of 35 points with the final score of 88-53.
Eagles' senior forwardÂ
Chris Thompson (Starke, Florida) led the Eagles with his sixth double-double of the year. Thompson scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, both game-highs.
Thompson was followed in the scoring column by junior guardÂ
Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana) with 16 points, while senior guardÂ
David Bryant (Louisville, Kentucky) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points.
USI will resume the 2005-06 campaign on the road next week when it travels to the University of Indianapolis for the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge. The Eagles will play Ferris State University Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. (CST) and Wayne State University Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. (CST).
