EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team used a big first half to post a 74-38 victory over Central State University (Ohio) Tuesday evening at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (3-3) trailed by a point less than five minutes into the contest. The Screaming Eagles, however, reeled off a 14-0 run and never looked back. The run lasted more than six minutes and gave USI a comfortable 21-8 advantage.

The Eagles held the Lady Marauders to just three first-half field goals and a shooting percentage of 15 percent as they went into the break with a 38-13 halftime lead.

Junior forward/center Sarah Buldtman (Metropolis, Illinois) led the Eagles with 10 points in the first half, while sophomore forward Jasmine Baines (Jeffersonville, Indiana) and sophomore guard Marshay Jolly (Merrillville, Indiana) chipped in six and five points, respectively.

As a team, the Eagles shot 50 percent from the field in the opening period and forced Central State into 16 turnovers. For the game, the Eagles shot a blistering 60.4 percent from the field, including 73.9 percent in the second half.

Baines led the Eagles with 13 points, while Buldtman chipped in a season-high 12 points. Senior forward Ashley Green (Otterbein, Indiana) dished out a career-high seven assists and grabbed a team-high five rebounds in the victory.

CSU (2-2) was led by senior forward Sherrie Griffin, who finished with a game-high 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Eagles return to action Sunday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan College at 2 p.m.
