EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team scored 32 points off 31 turnovers and connected on 17-of-18 free throw attempts to post a 73-60 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (4-3) used a pair of 8-0 runs in the first half to build a commanding 34-18 lead. Sophomore guard Marshay Jolly (Merrillville, Indiana) sparked the Screaming Eagles in the opening period as she connected three shots from behind the arc.

WVWC (1-1), however, cut the Eagles' lead to eight points, but freshman guard Keisha Collins (South Holland, Illinois) hit the second of her two first-half three pointers as time expired to send USI into the locker room with a 37-26 halftime advantage.

USI shot a blistering 66.7 percent from behind the arc in the first half and forced the Lady Cats into 18 turnovers. The Eagles turned those turnovers into 19 points as they went into the break with the lead for the fourth straight game.

The Eagles struggled out of the break as WVWC cut USI's lead to seven points, but another 8-0 run lifted the Eagles to a 15-point advantage. Sophomore forward Jasmine Baines (Jeffersonville, Indiana) converted a three-point play to start the run and junior guard Katie Theisenhusen (Muskego, Wisconsin) finished with a three-pointer less than a minute later as the Eagles built a 47-32 lead.

USI converted all 12 of its free throw opportunities in the second period as it went on to its fourth straight victory.

Baines led all scores with 15 points and also brought down a team-high six rebounds, while Collins finished with 10 points and four assists. Jolly and Theisenhusen each finished with nine points.

Senior forward/center Julie Bell led the Lady Cats with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman forward Sarah Van Horn finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Eagles return to action Thursday when they take on a GLVC newcomer, the University of Missouri-Rolla, to open conference play. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Rolla, Missouri.
