EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 19th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team reached the century mark for the first time this season in a 109-73 victory over Bellarmine University Thursday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI raises its record to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine falls to 7-5 overall, 2-4 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles broke the game open in the first 10 minutes of the first half with 15-3 and 15-8 runs to take a 30-15 lead with 12:14 to play in the first stanza. By the end of the first half, the Eagles had increased the margin to 22 points, 45-23, and went into the locker room with a 60-39 lead at the intermission.
USI continued its offensive explosion in the second half, extending the lead to as many as 46 points, 108-62, with 2:30 to play in the game.
The Eagles had six players score in double digits, led by senior centerÂ
Randy Holbrook (St. Louis, Missouri) with 25 points. Junior forwardÂ
Chris Thompson (Starke, Florida) followed Holbrook with his second straight double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.

Geoff Van Winkle (Ferdinand, Indiana), senior guardÂ
Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana), and freshman guardÂ
Carl Richburg (Mason, Ohio) had 14 points each.
Richburg's 14 points were a season-high, while Brunson dished out a career-high seven assists.
The Eagles resume GLVC play and the homestand January 8 when Northern Kentucky University comes to the PAC for a conference doubleheader. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. The USI men's basketball team concludes the current homestand Monday by hosting the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown at 7:30 p.m.
