EVANSVILLE, IN– The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team made it two wins in a row with a 1-0 victory over the University of Findlay Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI raises its record to 3-7-0 overall, while Findlay goes to 4-4-1.
In a hotly contested match, the Screaming Eagles made the games only goal stand up through 90 minutes. The game winner came off the foot of freshman forward
Casey Alexander (Evansville, Indiana) at the 23:31 mark of the first half.
Alexander knocked in a cross from sophomore midfielder
Kara Marcum (Evansville, Indiana) for her first collegiate goal. The assist was Marcum's first of the year.
The Eagles held onto the lead despite being out shot 13-8 in the match. Sophomore goalkeeper
Casey Hvratin (Evansville, Indiana) picked up her second victory of the year, making eight saves.
USI goes on the road next weekend in the GLVC, playing at Northern Kentucky University on October 1 and at Bellarmine University on October 3. The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field October 8 against Saint Joseph's College to begin their final homestand of the year.
