LEBANON, IL – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to McKendree College Friday evening in Lebanon, Illinois. USI's record falls to 1-4-0 overall, while McKendree goes to 3-0-1 in the 2004 campaign.
The Bearcats took the early 1-0 lead with a goal just 2:31 into the match and would hold the lead into the second half.
USI tied the match 1-1 when junior midfielder
Brooklyn Gant (Evansville, Indiana) scored off a pass from sophomore back
Kim Husky (Littleton, Colorado) at the 67:01 mark.Gant's goal was her first of the year, while Husky's assist marked her first collegiate point.
McKendree responded with the game-winner just over minute later for the 2-1 final.
The Eagles will conclude the road trip Saturday evening at the Anheuser Bush Soccer Park in St. Louis, Missouri, when they play Missouri Baptist College. Game time is 7 p.m.
USI returns to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field September 17 when it opens the GLVC schedule against Quincy University at 7:30 p.m. The women's team will play the nightcaps of the conference doubleheaders this season.
