Evansville, IN –University of Southern Indiana pitchers led the way for a Screaming Eagles sweep of Saint Joseph's College, 3-1 and 2-0, Sunday afternoon at the USI Baseball Field. USI raised its record to 23-29 overall and 17-19 in the GLVC, putting the Eagles back into contention for a berth in the GLVC Tournament.

USI moves back into sixth in the GLVC standings, just percentage points ahead of SJC. The Eagles finish the regular season next weekend, May 1-2, with a four-game series at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. SJC, which goes to 21-25 overall and 15-17 in the GLVC, will finish the regular season by hosting the University of Missouri-St. Louis next weekend.

Eagle junior right-handers Jae Fadde (West Lafayette, Indiana) and Andy Rumpler (Hamilton, Ohio) led the squad Sunday afternoon with outstanding performances on the mound.

In the nightcap, Fadde (3-3) won his third straight start and had a no-hitter through seven innings before allowing a hit in the eighth. He went nine innings, allowed the one hit and four walks, and struck out four to raise his record to 3-3 this spring.

Rumpler won his sixth straight game in the opener to raise his record to 7-2 overall, 6-1 in GLVC action. The junior right-hander went 5.1 innings, allowed four hits and one unearned run, and struck out one.

USI sophomore right-hander Matt Goans (Evansville, Indiana) finished the game for Rumpler, earning his team-high sixth save of the year.

Offensively, junior rightfielder Matt Keener (Newburgh, Indiana) led the Eagles in the opener with a two-RBI game-winning infield hit. With two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth, Keener beat out a high-chopper down the third base line scoring junior shortstop Corey Goers (LaPorte, Indiana) from third and junior second baseman Bryan Davis (West Chester, Ohio) from second base.

Goers and Keener, each, knocked in a run for the 2-0 USI victory in game two. Goers drove in senior first baseman Toby Pritchard (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) with an infield single just to the left of the pitchers mound in the fourth, while Keener drove in junior centerfielder Noah Wetzel (New Salisbury, Indiana) with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Wetzel had led off the fifth with a triple to left field to get into scoring position.
