St. Louis, MO The University of Southern Indiana baseball team was swept by the University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday afternoon, 5-3 and 10-3, in St. Louis. USI falls to 21-27 overall and 15-17 in the GLVC, while UMSL goes to 26-19 overall, 21-11 GLVC.
In game one, UMSL hurler Steve McCoy limited the Eagles to just seven hits, four collected by sophomore third basemanÂ
Brent Perry (Versailles, Indiana) and sophomore leftfielderÂ
Jared Tekulve (Madison, Indiana). Junior right-handerÂ
Matt Keener (Newburgh, Indiana) took the loss for the Eagles, falling to 1-4 in 2004.
Keener went the distance, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs while striking out five.
The Rivermen scored eight runs in the first three innings cruised to the 10-3 victory. Freshman right-handerÂ
Aaron Clark (Madisonville, Kentucky) took the loss in his first start of the season, allowing four runs in the first.
After six games on the road, the Eagles return to the friendly confines of the USI Baseball Field this weekend when they host Saint Joseph's College for a four-game series Saturday and Sunday, April 24-25. Both doubleheaders are scheduled for noon starts. Sunday's doubleheader will be Senior Day for USI.
