Indianapolis, IN The University of Southern Indiana baseball team split a doubleheader with the University of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon to open a four-game series in Indianapolis. USI dropped the first game, 6-4, but bounced back to take the nightcap, 17-11.
USI's record goes to 19-25 overall and 12-15 in the GLVC, while Indianapolis is 17-26 overall, 12-18 GLVC.
Senior first basemanÂ
Toby Pritchard (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) and senior catcherÂ
Mike Kottmeyer (Boulder, Illinois) combined to drive in nine runs in the USI victory. Pritchard was two-for-five with five RBIs and a double, while Kottmeyer was two-for-six with four RBIs and two runs scored.
The Eagles pounded out 21 hits over nine innings and had eight hitters with multiple hits. Junior outfieldersÂ

Corey Goers (LaPorte, Indiana) had the Eagles' only home run of the game, hitting a solo shot in the ninth.
Sophomore right-handerÂ
Mike Watson (Madison, Indiana) raised his record to 4-1 despite allowing 10 earned runs in 7.1 innings of work. Freshman right-handerÂ
Aaron Clark (Madisonville, Kentucky) finished the game for the Eagles, earning his third save of the year in 1.2 innings of work.
In the opener, the Greyhounds scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to earn a 6-4 victory. Freshman right-handerÂ
Adam Summers (Dyer, Indiana) picked up the loss for the Eagles, dropping to 3-4 this spring.
Offensively, Goers went three-for-four with a double, a RBI, and a run scored to lead the USI attack.
The Eagles and the Greyhounds will finish the four-game series with a doubleheader Sunday, April 17, in Indianapolis. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
