EVANSVILLE, Ind.—A bases-loaded, ninth-inning, walk lifted the University of Southern Indiana baseball team to a 1-0 victory over Bellarmine University in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday at the USI Baseball Field. The win forged a split with the visiting Knights and put a stop to USI's 11-game loosing streak.

USI (5-13, 1-5 GLVC) saw the bases get loaded with no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Junior second baseman Bryan Davis (West Chester, Ohio) hit a lead-off single to centerfield, which knocked out Bellarmine's starting pitcher Christopher Kern, to start the inning for the Eagles.

BU's Micah McNatt came into the game in relief and gave up a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt to junior utility player Matt Keener (Newburgh, Indiana), that put runners on first and second, and an infield hit by senior first baseman Toby Pritchard (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), which loaded the bases with no outs.

With a full count to sophomore Brent Perry (Versailles, Indiana), McNatt's offering went wide of the plate, walking in Davis and giving the Eagles the 1-0 win.

Sophomore pitcher Mike Watson (Madison, Indiana) picked up the complete-game victory after spreading seven hits throughout nine innings. Watson (1-0) struck out eight batters and did not allow a walk.

Kern picked up the loss despite giving up just four hits and striking out six batters.

In the first game, Bellarmine scored a run in the second inning and two more in the sixth inning to down the Eagles, 3-1. USI scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but could not do any more damage as the Knights won for the first time in nine games.

Freshman hurler Adam Vetter (Crown Point, Indiana) was charged with the loss after giving up three runs off eight hits in seven innings of action. Vetter (1-1) struck out four batters, while walking just two.

BU (4-13, 1-5 GLVC) pitcher Jason Bibelhauser picked up the complete-game victory after giving up just one run off four hits. He also recorded eight strikeouts.

The Eagles will face the University of Evansville in the "Battle at the Braun" Thursday evening. The first pitch is schedule for 6 p.m. at Braun Stadium.
