EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Sophomore outside hitters
Emily Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) and
Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana) exploded for a combined 36 kills to lead the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team to a 30-25, 30-26, 30-27 victory over the University of Indianapolis Friday night in front of a record crowd of 558 at the Physical Activities Center.
Ryan attacked at a clip of .405 and finished with a career and match-high 20 kills, while Doubler hit .375 and had 16 kills as the Screaming Eagles took sole possession of first place in the GLVC.
Freshman setter
Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) had 49 assists and set USI's offensive to the tune of a .263 attacking percentage, while sophomore libero/outside hitter
Amanda Probst (Wheeler, Illinois) had 13 digs to lead USI's defensive efforts.
The Eagles (17-5, 11-1 GLVC) closed the third and final game with a 6-1 run.
Indianapolis (19-9, 10-2 GLVC) was led by outside hitters Whitney Boling and Shaun McAllister. Boling had 14 kills, while McAllister finished with 11 kills.
USI, which is 10-0 at the PAC this season, will close out its home schedule Saturday when it takes on Saint Joseph's College at 2 p.m. The match is Senior Day as well as Varsity Club Day for the Eagles.
