Evansville, IN—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team used a 13-0 run to start the game and a 10-2 run in the second half to defeat the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 67-55, at the Physical Activities Center Sunday afternoon. USI raises its records to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the GLVC, while UWP falls to 6-5 overall, 3-2 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles have won five in a row, including their last two GLVC contests.
In the first five minutes of the game, the Eagles did the job on both halves of the court by leading 13-0 at the 15:54 mark. USI continued to build its lead to as many as 13 points, 22-9, with 7:38 left in the half before UWP made a run at the Eagles. The Lady Rangers outscored the Eagles 20-9 in the finals seven minutes of the half and trailed by only two, 31-29, at the intermission.
UWP started the second half by taking its only lead of the game, 34-33, with 18:02 to play. USI responded with a 10-2 run to go ahead for good. The Eagles would build the lead to as many as 12 points on four different occasions, including the 67-55 final.
USI junior guard
Jamie Truitt (Owensboro, Kentucky) paced the Eagles with 24 points. She hit nine-of-17 from the field, including four three-point field goals in the first half. The 24 points were Truitts fourth game of the year with 20-or-more points.

Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) and freshman guard
Lauren Parrish (Shepherdsville, KY) with 10 points each. Parrish, who had hit 23 consecutive free throws earlier this season, was a perfect six-of-six from the line and has hit her last 15 shots from the charity strip.
The Eagles return to the road next week when they travel to play the University of Indianapolis Thursday, January 8, and Northern Kentucky University, Saturday, January 10. Game time Thursday is 4:30 p.m. (CT), while tip next Saturday is noon (CT). The next home game for the Eagles will be Thursday, January 15, when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College to begin a three game homestand.
