The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team fell in its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Friday evening at Strassweg Field in Evansville, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles were blanked, 3-0, by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
USI (3-3-0 overall, 0-1-0 GLVC) was limited to just five shots as it lost its second consecutive match. Freshman goalkeeper Casey Hrvatin (Evansville, Indiana) gave up all three goals, but had five saves as she faced eight shots on goal.
UWP (5-1-0 overall, 1-0-0 GLVC) senior midfielder Sara Beebe recorded a goal and assisted on the Rangers' first two goals of the contest. The Rangers, who have won five straight matches since falling to Wheeling Jesuit University in their season opener, scored less than six minutes into the match to take a 1-0 advantage.
The Rangers added their second goal of the contest at the 36:33 mark of the first half before scoring their final goal eight minutes into the second half.
USI will host Lewis University this Sunday, September 21. Kickoff is slated for noon at Strassweg Field.
