The University of Southern Indiana basketball team used a big second half comeback to defeat the University of Indianapolis, 78-63, Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis. USI raises its record to 18-5 overall and 12-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Indianapolis falls to 17-6 overall, 11-5 GLVC.

The victory marks the first time that USI has swept the Northern Kentucky University-Indianapolis road trip since 1992-93. The Eagles also are 5-3 on the road after starting the year 0-2.

The Eagles spotted the Greyhounds 10 points in the opening minutes before taking its first lead of the game 18-17. Indianapolis retook control of the game with a 13-2 run and led at halftime 40-29. Greyhounds led by as many as 12 points three different times during the game.

It was all USI, both defensively and offensively, in the second half. The Eagles erased the 11-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Greyhounds, 49-23, and held UI sophomore guard David Logan, the league's leading scorer, scoreless in the second half and to just six points in the game.

USI was carried in the second half by sophomore guard Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana), who had 20 of his team-high 22 points in the second half of the contest. Brunson was followed by junior forward Billy Harris (Carbondale, Illinois), who 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds, and senior guard David Ragland (Evansville, Indiana), 10 points.

USI concludes the 2002-03 home schedule next week when it host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday, February 20, and 18th ranked Lewis University Saturday, February 22, at the Physical Activities Center. Game times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
