USI men’s basketball gets back on track at the PAC

The 25th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team got back on track at the Physical Activities Center with an 85-70 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday evening. USI raises its record to 19-5 overall and 13-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while UWP falls to 13-11 overall, 8-9 GLVC.

The lead in the first half went back and forth with the Eagles scratching out a 40-38 lead at the intermission. The second half saw the Eagles build a eight-point, 55-47, before they exploded on a 15-2 run to put the game out of reach.

USI's largest lead of the game was 24-points, 81-57, with just over five minutes to play in the game.

The Eagles had four players score in double digits, led by senior guard/forward Alan Goff (Terre Haute, Indiana) with 16 points. Junior center Billy Harris (Carbondale, Illinois) followed Goff with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana) and senior guard David Ragland (Evansville, Indiana) rounded out the double figure scorers for USI with 11 points each.

USI concludes the 2002-03 home schedule with Senior Day Saturday, February 22, when 12th ranked Lewis University comes to the Physical Activities Center. Game time is 3:15 p.m. A USI victory on Saturday would give the Screaming Eagles its 11th straight 20-win season.

The Eagles will finish the 2002-03 regular season schedule on the road at Quincy University Thursday, February 27, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday, March 1. The GLVC Tournament is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, through Saturday, March 8, at Roberts Stadium.
