The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the GLVC as it recorded an 81-57 win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis Thursday night at the Mark Twain Building in St. Louis. With the loss, the Riverwomen fall to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the GLVC.

Junior guard Jamie Truitt (Owensboro, Kentucky) scored 13 of her game and career-high 27 points in the first half to spur the Screaming Eagles to a 36-26 halftime advantage. Truitt connected on three of USI's four first-half three-pointers.

The first half saw the Eagles shoot a blistering 55.6 percent from the floor and finish the opening period with a 12-6 run to take control of the contest. For the game, the Eagles shot 56 percent including a 56.5 percent shooting performance in the second stanza.

Truitt continued her streaky shooting in the second half as she drained another four shots from three-point range and finished with a blistering 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from behind the arc. She also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds in the victory.

Senior forward Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) chipped in 18 points, marking the fourth straight game she has recorded 17 or more points. She also recorded five rebounds and four steals in the win.

The Eagles, which avenged their 2002-03 season-finale loss to the Riverwomen, will return to action Saturday, December 6, when they travel to Quincy, Illinois, to take on #20 Quincy University. QU (5-2, 2-1 GLVC) is coming off a 78-62 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College.
