The 20th-ranked University of Southern Indiana soccer team stumbled for the second time this weekend in GLVC play, losing a 3-1 decision on the road to Quincy University Sunday afternoon. USI falls to 8-6-0 overall and 7-2-0 in the GLVC, while Quincy goes to 6-7-2 overall, 4-4-1 GLVC.
The Eagles scored first at the hands of the Hawks on an own goal 26:10 into the match. Quincy responded in the second half with three unanswered goals to win the match.
The loss drops USI to third in the GLVC standings, 1 ½ games behind undefeated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a game behind second place Lewis University. Despite the two losses this weekend, USI will host a first round match in the GLVC Tournament that begins November 2.
USI returns to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field to end the GLVC and regular season schedule next weekend. The Eagles will host the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday, October 25, at 2:30 p.m. for Senior Day.
