The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team extended its home-court winning streak to 20 games with an 85-61 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis Thursday evening at the Physical Activities Center. The 20-game winning streak ranks third nationally in the NCAA Division II.
The Screaming Eagles, 9-4 overall, raise their Great Lakes Valley Conference record over .500 mark for first time this season at 4-3. UMSL falls to 5-7 overall, 2-5 GLVC.
USI's senior forward
Diond're Givens (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) led four players in double figures with 17 points. Givens, who has posted double digits in the scoring column 11 times this season, was followed by sophomore guard
Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana) and junior forward
Clarence Chillers (Chicago, Illinois) with 13 points each.
Junior forward
Billy Harris (Carbondale, Illinois) rounded out the leaders with 10 points. Harris, who started slow this season, has made his presence felt in the last six games with 15.4 ppg.
The Eagles have the weekend off from GLVC action, but will resume their three-game homestand Thursday, January 16, when Bellarmine University comes to the PAC for a 7:30 p.m. start. USI will be looking for a little payback after the Knights won in Louisville, 82-80, back in December.
