The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The Screaming Eagles have played 13 of their 14 contests on the road or at a neutral site in 2002 and have one more on the road match before they can return to the friendly confines of the Physical Activities Center.

USI, 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, finishes a month-long road trip with a conference match at Quincy University Friday, September 27. Since USI's home match with McKendree College on September 2, the Eagles have played nine matches on the road, winning six.

In the match with Quincy, USI will try to get back on track after splitting its opening weekend in the GLVC. The Eagles started league action with a 3-0 victory at Indianapolis, but were upset by Saint Joseph's College, 3-0.

The Hawks of Quincy enter Friday's action with a 7-5 overall record and 1-1 in the GLVC. Quincy started GLVC play with a 3-2 win at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, but fell to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in straight sets, 3-0.

The Eagles are .500 against the Hawks since 1989 at 9-9 and have won the last six matches. USI swept the 2001 series, winning 3-1 at the PAC and at Quincy.

Once the Eagles get by Friday, the volleyball team has a short two-match home stand before returning to the road. USI will host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Friday, October 4 at 7 p.m. and Lewis University Saturday, October 5, at 2 p.m.
