The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team could not come back from a three goal deficit, losing to Wheeling Jesuit University, 3-1, Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis, Indiana. In four neutral site games, USI was 2-2 and is 4-2 in 2002.
Wheeling Jesuit scored all three goals in the first half and led at the intermission, 3-0. The Eagles were outshot in the first half by WJU 12-2.
In the second half, USI out shot WJU, 12-5, and had its only highlight of the game. Freshman forward
Alisann Shetler (Evansville, Indiana) scored her four goal of the season, an unassisted tally.
The next action for the Eagles will be Friday, September 20, at Northern Kentucky University to open the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule. Match time is 7 p.m. (CT). The Eagles will not return to Strassweg Field until Friday, September 27, when Kentucky Wesleyan comes to Evansville for a GLVC doubleheader.
