Joey Byrne (Georgetown, Indiana) and women's distance runner
Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana) ran their final races of the season this evening at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in San Angelo, Texas. Byrne finished 11th in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase after posting a 9:48.74 while Farmer posted a 10:41.01 in the finals of the 3,000 meters.
The races close out what has been a successful season for both Byrne and Farmer. Farmer qualified for both the indoor and outdoor national championships while Byrne was an All-American in cross country and a conference champion in the outdoor steeplechase.
Combined with freshman distance runner
Casey Schneider (New Salisbury, Indiana), who ran in the finals of the women's 10,000 meters on Thursday, Byrne and Farmer amassed eight All-Conference awards, an All-Region award, an All-America award, and six conference championships between cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track.
All three runners will have a couple of months off before practice starts for the upcoming cross country season.
