The University of Southern Indiana softball team dropped a pair of games at 19th-ranked Northern Kentucky University, 3-1 and 4-1, this afternoon in Highland Heights, Kentucky. The Screaming Eagles, who end the regular season on a four game slide, fall to 26-16 overall and 10-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

USI got on the board first as junior outfielder Ginnie Roberts (Lafayette, Indiana) singled to drive in fellow classmate Rachel Bowling (Middletown, Indiana) in the top of the second inning of game one. However, NKU (36-9 overall, 16-3 GLVC) answered as it scored a run in the third inning to knot the game up at a run each. The Norse tacked on runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings as they won game one, 3-1.

NKU's Emily Breitholle (20-3) picked up the win in game one as she gave up one run off six hits in seven innings of duty.

The Eagles found themselves in a scoreless tie with the Norse after the first 3 ½ innings of game two. However, the Eagles surrendered four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as they dropped the second game, 4-1. Senior third baseman Molly Blackford (Newburgh, Indiana) doubled in the top of the sixth inning to drive in USI's only run of the contest.

Freshman hurler Brandy Bates (Boonville, Indiana) was charged with the loss in game two after giving up 4 runs off 8 hits in 3 2/3 innings of work. Bates falls to 4-2 on the season.
