The University of Southern Indiana men's and women's track teams finished in the middle of the pack for the team standings, but produced four All-GLVC performances in Rensselaer, Indiana, this weekend. Saint Joseph's College hosted the GLVC Championships.
Leading the All-GLVC performers was USI junior
Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana), who won the 3,000m run with a time of 10:28.74 and the 1500m run with a time of 4:43.96. Farmer was followed on the women's team by freshman
Casey Schneider (New Salisbury, Indiana) in the 5000m run with a first place time of 17:48.56.
On the men's team, USI was led by sophomore
Joey Byrne (Georgetown, Indiana). Byrne won the 3000m Steeplechase with a 9:27.62 mark. He just missed being All-GLVC in the 5000m with third-place time of 15:10.21, following first place Arturo Cobral of Lewis (14:55.46) and second place John Poray of Indianapolis (15:06.27).
Missing All-GLVC honors by even a slimmer margin was sophomore
Doug Schwartz (Centralia, Illinois). Schwartz was third in the 1500m with a time of 4:02.80, just 0:00.76 behind second place Tim Newman of Saint Joseph's College.
