Two University of Southern Indiana track and field runners recorded NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times yesterday (Friday) at the 2002 Sea-Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Screaming Eagles had six runners competing in the three-day event, four from the men's squad and two from the women's squad.
Sophomore distance runner
Joey Byrne (Georgetown, Indiana) recorded an NCAA II provisional qualifying time in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase invitational as he finished with a season-best time of 9:13.42. Byrne was just 9.79 seconds off the qualifying time of 9:20.0 a couple of weeks ago at the Gerald England Track and Field Invitational.

Farmer, who set a school record in the 800-meter run last week, ran a provisional qualifying time in the women's 1,500-meter run last week at the Washington Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri.
Freshman distance runner
Casey Schneider (New Salisbury, Indiana) recorded the top finish for USI. Schneider finished sixth in the women's 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:32.14, just 32.14 seconds over the provisional qualifying time.
