The University of Southern Indiana softball team fell to 2-5 after dropping an extra-inning game, 3-2, to Texas A&M-Kingsville this afternoon in Woodstalk, Georgia. It was the second time in as many days the Screaming Eagles have lost to Texas A&M-Kingsville.
USI went 1-2 yesterday in tournament action at the Owl Classic. The Eagles started off with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville, but rebounded with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Lander University. That game took nine innings before the Eagles came out victorious.
The Eagles, however, lost its final game of the day to another team from the Lone Star state. USI gave up three runs in the bottom of the first and four runs in the bottom of the third inning as it fell to Texas Women's University, 8-2.
The Eagles will travel to Osceola, Florida to take part in the Division II Rebel Spring Games Sunday, March 3 through Saturday, March 9. USI will open its 2002 home schedule Thursday, March 21 when it hosts Brescia University.
