University of Southern Indiana senior forwards
Greg Henry (France) and
Duncan Bray (Scotland) combined for three goals as the Screaming Eagles defeated Brescia University, 3-2, at Strassweg Field Wednesday night. USI raises its record to 7-5-0 overall, while Brescia falls to 3-8-1 in 2002.
Bray started the scoring for USI, 10:58 into the match, off a pass from senior midfielder
John Havill (Washington, Indiana). The goal was the fifth in the last three matches for Bray.
After Brescia tied the score, 1-1, with 1:43 left in the first half, the Eagles bounced back with a goal 16 seconds later to break the tie. Henry scored his eighth goal of the season off a cross from Bray to give USI a 2-1 halftime lead.
In the second half, Brescia tied the score for a second time with a tally at 55:42 and set the stage for Henry. Henry picked up his ninth goal and his fifth game-winner of the year by deflecting a head ball from senior midfielder
Shawn Sloan (St. Peters, Missouri). Bray also picked up his second assist of the game by starting the game-winning play.
The Eagles return to Great Lakes Valley Conference action Sunday, October 13, when they host Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in a noon match at Stassweg Field.
