The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team dropped its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener, 3-1, at the University of Indianapolis Friday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 3-2-0, 0-1-0 GLVC, while the Greyhounds go to 2-4-1 overall, 1-0-0 GLVC.
Indianapolis broke out to a lead at 26:44 and led at halftime, 1-0. The Screaming Eagles tied the score 1-1 at 62:03 of the second half on senior forward
Ed Pieper's (St. Louis, Missouri) third goal of the season. He was assisted on the play by junior midfielder
Duncan Bray (Scotland), his second of the season.
The Greyhounds followed up USI's goal with two unanswered tallies, including the game winner at 75:17 to make the score 2-1. Indianapolis scored their final goal of the game at 87:30 to put the winning margin at 3-1.
The Eagles will have a day to bounce back before traveling on to Saint Joseph's College to play the Pumas in a 2:30 p.m. match Sunday, September 16. The next action at Strassweg Field for the Eagles will be on Friday, September 21, when the University of Wisconsin-Parkside comes to Evansville for a 7:30 p.m. match.
