The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team put the brakes on a four-match loosing streak by topping 2000 NCAA Division II Tournament participant Edinboro University, 3-0, this afternoon at the Amerihost Invitational in Allendale, Michigan.
The Screaming Eagles improved to 2-4 on the season thanks to some outstanding play by junior
Kristina Kavanaugh (Montgomery, Indiana). Kavanaugh recorded 12 kills off 19 total attacks without an error (.632) in addition to a team-high 11 digs.
Junior outside hitter
Shannon Wells (Merrillville, Indiana) posted a team-high13 kills while adding eight defensive digs. Senior
Leah Mercer (Evansville, Indiana) contributed nine kills and nine digs in the winning effort.
The Eagles got another boost from sophomore setter
Kim Boehmer (Cincinnati, Ohio). Boehmer tallied 39 assists and seven digs.
USI will finish the Amerihost Invitation tomorrow when it takes on another 2000 NCAA II Tournament participant, the University of New Haven. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
