The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team fell for the first time since 1988-89 to the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 69-53, in St. Louis, Missouri. USI falls to 2-2 overall, 0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while UMSL goes to 3-0 overall, 1-0 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles were cold from the field shooting only 37.5 percent (18-48) from the field and 60.0 percent from the line (15-25). USI also shot only 14.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc (2-14).

Senior forward Marlowe Currie (St. Louis, Missouri) led the way for the Eagles, scoring 23 of USI's 53 points. He was followed in double figures by sophomore forward Billy Harris (Carbondale, Illinois) with 10 points.

"We did not execute against their zone on offence," said USI Head Coach Rick Herdes. "We knew what we needed to do tonight, but did not make the extra pass. (USI) has good players, but they did not perform tonight.

The Eagles will resume action on Monday evening, November 26, at Quincy University in a GLVC contest. Game time is 7:30 p.m. USI will play its GLVC season opener Thursday, November 29, against Lewis University in a 7:30 p.m. contest at the Physical Activities Center.
