Stefan King begins his first season with the University of Southern Indiana Men's Basketball program in 2026-27 after being hired in May 2026. He assists Head Coach Stan Gouard in all aspects of the Screaming Eagles' men's basketball program.
King came to USI after spending the previous four seasons at Tennessee Tech University. He was an assistant coach from 2024-26 after serving as the program’s director of operations from 2022-24.

During his tenure at Tennessee Tech, King helped lead the Golden Eagles to a pair of Ohio Valley Conference Tournament berths as well as a spot in the OVC championship game in 2023.

In 2022-23, King helped Tennessee Tech to some impressive numbers from three-point range. The Golden Eagles ranked first in the OVC in made threes and third in the league in three-point field goal percentage. They also ranked 28th, nationally, in three-point field goal percentage and 29th in the nation in made three-pointers per game.

Prior to Tennessee Tech, King spent three years as a graduate assistant for head coach Darnell Archey at the University of Mobile. During his three seasons in Mobile, King helped develop two All-Southern States Athletic Conference first-team award winners, three members of the All-SSAC second team, three student-athletes named to the All-SSAC Freshman Team, an SSAC Defensive Player of the Year and an SSAC Freshman of the Year.

Throughout his stint with the Rams, King’s duties included player development, recruiting, on-court coaching, video and scouting reports, managing team meals and travel, serving as the team’s academic advisor and stepping in as the acting head coach for a pair of games.

King was selected to the take part in the TopConnect Graduate Assistant Leadership Academy (GALA) during the summer of 2021, representing the only member from an NAIA program. TopConnect GALA, conceptualized and managed by Stanford University assistant men’s basketball coach Rob Ehsan, is an eight-week program focused on leadership and professional development.

Prior to his arrival at Mobile, King served as an assistant coach for the varsity boys’ basketball team at Luverne Hight School in Luverna, Alabama, for the 2018-19 season. His responsibilities included assisting the head coach with game plan implementation during practice, participating in on-court-related drills and breaking down opponent film.

A native of Brantley, Alabama, King helped lead Brantley High School to an AHSAA Class 1A state title in football and post a runner-up showing in the AHSAA Class 1A State Championships in basketball during his junior season. As a senior, King guided the basketball team to the regional finals, earning All-Region honors for his efforts.

King earned his associate’s degree from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in 2016 and his bachelor’s degree in sport management, with a minor in global business, from Troy University in 2018. In 2022, he completed his master’s degree in higher education and leadership & policy at Mobile, graduating at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA.
