Preston Leinenbach was promoted to Associate Director of Athletic Communication in July 2026 after joining the USI Athletic Communication staff as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communication in August 2022. He serves as the primary contact for USI Women's Soccer, Women's Basketball, and Softball. Leinenbach assists with the USI Athletics website and social media platforms, media relations, and statistical record-keeping. He additionally helps with graphic design, photography, and event broadcast production. In 2023-24, Leinenbach covered USI Women's Basketball's historic championship season that saw the Screaming Eagles win the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championships, the first Division I team championships in USI Athletics history.
Leinenbach, an Evansville, Indiana, native, came to USI after spending multiple seasons in the front office of the Evansville Otters baseball club at Bosse Field. He was a media relations intern before becoming the director of communications for the local franchise, which plays in the professional independent Frontier League. With the Otters, Leinenbach managed the Otters Digital Network and broadcast feeds, and published to the team's social media platforms and website. In addition to his multimedia and production work, he handled the team's media relations and assisted with baseball operations. Additionally, Leinenbach managed media advertising strategies and gameday press box operations. The Otters unveiled a new logo, branding marks, and website under Leinenbach's leadership.
Leinenbach has also freelanced in Evansville's sports scene, doing broadcasting and announcing for the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville in previous years.
Leinenbach graduated from Evansville North High School and received a bachelor's degree in sports communication from the University of Evansville.
